I'm Officially a 1st Grader

This is it.  My last day of being a Kindergartner.

I AM OFFICIALLY a 1st GRADER

The morning started off basically like any other day.  Then at what would have been recess time, our parents joined us in the classroom to celebrate our last day.

We started off with snacks and treats.

Then as a class we read some poems and shared our favorite memories of the year.  My favorite memory was having parents help in the classroom (my mom was able to come every other Wednesday -- I loved having her in my class helping my teacher with anything and everything).

Then we got called up to the front of the class one by one to receive a special gift from our teacher -- and a hug. The best Kindergarten teacher in the world!

This about says it all.

We took our last walk out to the front of the school and crossed the line from Kindergarten to 1st Grade -- it is now official.

But, we snuck back into the classroom to help clean up the party mess.  There I was able to snag a picture with my teacher, Mrs. Martinka.

One of the things that makes today even harder to accept is that I will not be going to school here again.  Since we moved, the neighborhood school is much closer to my house -- I will be able to walk to school every day.  So I will not be seeing these friends of mine everyday at recess or in my class.  I will especially miss my best friend, Ben.  But we will have several playdates this summer and are going to the same camp one week.

Bye bye school.  HELLO SUMMER BREAK.
