Flu
I'm sick. Sick is no fun.
Here's what happened... Friday evening we went out to dinner with Grandma Carolyn. I was fine. Half way through the meal, I grew tired and curled up in my Mom's lap. I fell asleep. By the time we got home I had a fever of over 103.
All weekend I fought the fever. It peaked as high as over 104 and never seemed to go below 101. I wasn't very hungry or thirsty, but I was eating and drinking a bit (and going potty, for those of you that must know!). I was still playful for the most part and happy to be watching so many cartoons, but bummed that I couldn't go outside with how hot it was.
Sunday night my fever finally dropped to 100 and during the night was even back to normal.
Today I woke up feeling not great, but OK. Fever was back to 100. I was thirsty so I had a few sips of water and within 2 minutes threw it all up. YUCK.
I started to get tired.
About 20 minutes later I got thirsty again and had a few more sips of water. About 10 minutes later, I threw all that up! Then I got really tired.
After a call to the consulting nurse, Mom packed me in the car and off we went to the ER. Dad met us there (thanks for giving up a day of golf for me!).
The doctor decided it was best I get an IV of fluids. The nurse had to poke me twice and dig for a vein, I was that dehydrated. I felt so bad that I didn't care what she did to me. She even took some blood for testing. I got a dose of anti nausea medication.
After 2 bags of fluid and eating some food, I was ready to give my urine sample.
As the test results came back, the doctor grew more confused. Then he had a swab of my nose done and, ta da, Influenza B.
Flu.
He had an x-ray taken of my chest to make sure my lungs were clear. After that came back good, I was clear to go home.
My Mom asked me what I wanted to eat or drink and I kept answering... meatloaf! So meatloaf I got. Along with my favorite, chocolate milk. Oh, and cartoons, of course!
I'm feeling better for the most part, but a bit wiped out. Mom says I need rest... I say I need cartoons!
Stay healthy.
